@ChrisJWilson Thanks for the archive webpage link! I think it was the euphemisms that struck me. What I liked about the NET bible was that its top value seemed to be clarity of translation; to my mind it’s meant for serious study by adults, and not a translation to be read for public worship services. Most other translations do use euphemisms, but if the NET study bible was meant to focus on the clarity of the translation, then let’s, you know, say it right out. Be clear in at least this translation, what those euphemisms are referring to. Raping someone is not the same as sleeping with them.
De 22:28 old version: Suppose a man comes across a virgin who is not engaged and overpowers her and rapes her and they are discovered.
De 22:28 current version: Suppose a man comes across a virgin who is not engaged and takes hold of her and sleeps with her and they are discovered.
